2022 Events Showcase

In 2022, WiECD had an impressive year with more than 12 events held throughout. From our signature Networking Cocktail Night, to unique collaborations with other Curtin clubs, 2022 marked a milestone year for WiECD.

2022 Networking Cocktail Night

Thursday, 25th August
The Raft, Perth

With a turnout of 20 companies and over 100 students, this was WiECD's most ambitious event to date. The event was hosted on Perth's only floating bar on the Swan River, the Raft.

 

To get to the venue, attendees had to travel via a private tender vessel. With a spectacular view of the city, premium catering and open bar tag throughout the night, the event received exceptional feedback. 

2022 IWD Networking High Tea

Thursday, 24th March
C Restaurant

In celebration of International Women's Day and Women's History Month.

Students experienced an intimate networking experience over some luxurious high tea in Perth's only rotating restaurant.

With 11 companies attending, students were able to gain valuable advice and insight into their  future careers.

Wood STEM Challenge

Thursday, 6th-8th May
Wood Office, Perth

WiECD partnered with Curtin Machine Learning Club and Students in STEM to bring students a unique opportunity to solve a real world STEM problem with the mining company, Wood. We had a great turnout and each team presented their innovative soltuions, with the winning team each receiving $1600 and internship placements with Wood.

Women in STEM Panel

Thursday, 12th May
Varsity

In collaboration with Curtin IET on Campus and Curtin Society of Mechatronic Engineers, WiECD presented their very first panel discussion featuring some inspiring women from the industry. Students were able to gain insight into the experiences and challenges the speakers had being a woman in STEM
and how their companies promote the inclusion of women in STEM.

Lunch & Learn

Wednesday, 4th May
Varsity

WiECD were able to host another lunch and learn with PROK at Varsity. Our members were able to network with industry representatives, as well as gain insight into the manufacturing industry and opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students.
